Trimester 3 2023 Study Load

KBS would like to inform you of key details with regards to study load in Trimester 3 (November, 2023) that have an impact on study loads for students starting with KBS in Trimester 2, 2X and 3. Please read through the below important information:

What are the details?

  • Trimester 3 is considered a compulsory trimester, the same as Trimester 1, 2 and T2X and therefore, all students will need to enrol in at least 1 subject face-to-face.
  • Students commencing their studies in Trimester 2 and T2X will be required to study a full load in their second trimester (Trimester 3).
  • Students commencing their studies in Trimester 3 will now be required to study a full load in their first trimester.

Why are we making the change?

There are a variety of reasons we have made this change. It allows a better progression pathway for students; the study load better aligns with the annual study load requirement and the new TEQSA requirements for face-to-face study from July 2023 have led to changes in our subject offerings that better align with this change.

Who is impacted?

Students beginning their studies with KBS in Trimester 2, 2X or 3 in the Diploma, Bachelor, Master of Accounting, Master of Business Analytics (Extension) and Master of Information Technology (Extension) are impacted. Instead of a study load of 2 subjects in Trimester 3 in their first year, they will have a study load of 3 subjects. All other students are not impacted.

How will the change be rolled out?

  • The Study Loads for International Students outline is now updated and available on the KBS website.
  • The student platform Kaplink will be updated to reflect and ensure the revised study loads and face-to-face requirement for the relevant cohorts.
  • New starters in Trimester 2 onwards will be informed of their study load expectations for Trimester 3.
